Man hospitalised after tractor accident
A man was taken to hospital after a tractor accident at the end of last week. The tractor toppled over in to a ditch landing on the man. A fire spokesman said the driver had told him the tractor's brakes had failed. The air ambulance, road ambulance, police and fire-fighters from Canterbury attended.
The man was flown to Hospital for treatment. The accident occurred just days after the Health and Safety Executive urged farmers to properly maintain tractors, trailers and other mobile equipment.
Over the last five years farm vehicles and machinery have been the cause of 22 major injuries and four deaths in the county of Kent alone. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is urging farmers to make sure they are properly maintaining tractors, trailers and other mobile equipment, which is being used both on and off the road during this year's harvest/cultivation period.HSE urges farmers to properly maintain tractors, trailers and other mobile equipment.
