Bond Pearce Lawyers want more from asbestos support package
Andrew Stinchcombe, Head of Industrial Disease at Bond Pearce LLP states "I welcome the setting up of a national mesothelioma research centre.
"This is something that Bond Pearce personal injury department has been supporting and which we highlighted at our mesothelioma discussion session in September last year. Plymouth is a recognised national mesothelioma hot spot and it is important that they are party to the best research and funding to find both treatments and cures for this terrible disease.
"I also welcome the setting up of an employers liability insurance bureau, to ensure that those victims of asbestos disease who are unable to find insurers for their former employers are not left at a disadvantage.
"However, the decision not to overturn the House of Lords' ruling regarding pleural plaques is disappointing and creates a strange and uneasy situation which does not sit well with the Scottish Parliament decision to allow sufferers of pleural plaques to claim compensation.
"We urge the Government to rethink the policy regarding pleural plaques".
