Driver suffered whiplash and shoulder injuries

A driver was taken to hospital after his parked van was involved in a collision with another on Hamelin Way in Torquay yesterday.
The casualty is thought to have suffered whiplash and shoulder injuries when a blue Ford Transit collided with his stationary white Mercedes van.
The accident happened in the lay-by of the Newton Road-bound carriageway at 6am.
Police, paramedics and fire crews attended the incident which resulted in the closure of one of the carriageways for two hours.
A fire spokesman said a crew attended the incident to make sure both the vans were safe.
The driver of the other van escaped injury, although he was shaken up.
Police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
A spokeswoman said the closed carriageway was re-opened just after 8am.
An ambulance service spokeswoman confirmed the injured man hurt his shoulder.
"Two ambulances attended. The casualty was taken to Torbay Hospital," she said
