Sub-station explosion causes injury to electrician
An electrician was sustained burns injuries after a sub power station explosion.
When the fire brigade were called to investigated an electrical fire Giles was the only qualified electrician on site and was requested by a fire officer to enter a sub-station to identify an electrical fault. He was standing about 7ft away from a junction box when it exploded.
He suffered numerous injuries. His face, hands and arms was badly burnt. He suffered shock and the explosion threw him into the air causing him to suffer a soft tissue injury to the spine.
Giles has had to undergo skin grafts and counselling. This left him reluctant to go out socialising, unable to carry out his normal DIY on the family home and to continue his hobby playing pool for months. He is still suffering from disturbed sleep patterns due to flash backs of the incidents.
The accident at work team at Bond Pearce investigated Giles' claim and were able to secure him £56,900 in compensation which included his loss of earnings and hospital expenses.
