Carbon Monoxide poisons ex-serviceman and his family
When Mark and his girlfriend moved into their rented flat there was no reason to suspect that their lives were in danger.
Not long after they moved into their flat Mark and his girlfriend began to suffer from bad health. They visited their GP and hospital but numerous tests proved inconclusive.
It was not until they had guests over to stay who began to suffer similar symptoms that they realised it was something to do with the flat. Mark reported the incident to the Environmental Health, Corgi and the Health and Safety Executive. A Corgi engineer and inspector examined the flat's central heating system and confirmed that the couple had indeed been subjected to vast amounts of Carbon Monoxide and were very lucky to be alive. Specific tests were then carried out by their GP who confirmed that they had carbon monoxide poisoning. Although the immediate effects were cleared up the doctor was concerned that there were potentially very serious long term effects.
Following this discovery Mark and his girlfriend had to move out of the flat immediately. They approached the Landlord to request for the appropriate Corgis certificates and logs of boiler and central heating checks. The Landlord failed to respond.
The couple approached Bond Pearce through the RAFA helpline to find some answers and make sure that the Landlord was unable to continue letting unsafe premises.
