Horse injures girl at Royal Marine riding stables
A riding stable run by the Royal Marines Riding Association allowed a young girl to go unsupervised resulting in her being kicked in the head by a horse. As a result she suffered facial and dental injuries.
A Corporal dropped off his young daughter at the riding stables for her weekly lesson. On this occasion he was unable to stay with her, he checked with the instructor to make sure that it was ok for Natasha to stay without him. The riding instructor said that it was fine and for her to carry on and tack her pony.
Natasha carried out her normal routine and led her pony out of the stables into the riding arena. Unknown to Natasha the instructor at the stables had left her horse in the arena ready for the lesson.
The instructor's horse began kicking Natasha's pony and in the kafuffle kicked Natasha in the head knocking her to the ground. She sustained injuries to her lips, teeth and upper jaw.
She has had to undergo extensive orthodontic treatment which she found very distressing. Her dental work will need to be constantly reviewed and she is going to need implants and probably a bridge.
Natasha's father approached Bond Pearce through our Armed Forces Injury team. The team alongside our experienced sport accidents team were able to gather both medical and equine expert reports. They secured Natasha £12,500 in compensation.
