Failure to monitor working practices injures employee
An employer's failure to monitor work procedures resulted in an employee suffering a repetitive strain injury.
Tim worked in a factory where his main responsibility was to wash metal components. This involved pushing a heavy basket of components through a washing machine. After a period of time Tim began to suffer discomfort in his shoulder. He reported it to his employer as he believed that it was due to the repetitive job that he was doing. Nothing was done and Tim carried on as before. The pain became worse and he consulted his doctor. He was diagnosed as having a repetitive strain injury.
Bond Pearce investigated Tim's claim. The Defendants argued that Tim had never told anyone that there was a problem. Bond Pearce fought Tim's claim, they were able to secure him £2,000 in compensation.
