Landscaper crushed by lawn mower.
Jeremy was an experienced worker for a landscaping company one of his main duties was to cut large areas of grass at various sites. Jeremy attended a demonstration for a new ride on lawn mower. At the presentation it showed that the mower was capable of working on slopes. Jeremy was given a manual for the new machine but did not have any formal training. He used the new mower on a 40 degree slope. The mower tipped and rolled on to Jeremy crushing him underneath.
He fractured his lower back and had to have surgery and a bone graft. He was unable to return to his previous job due to the heavy lifting. Jeremy was a very motivated person and soon found a new job as a park keeper although his wage was not as good as before.
The employer claimed that the accident was 50% Jeremy's fault because he did not read the instruction manual before using the new lawn mower. Bond Pearce fought this and successfully secured compensation in the sum of £57,000 providing some financial security for Jeremy and his family.
