Excessive dockyard noise causes hearing loss

Jason was an experienced ship keeper and fire office having worked at the dockyard for over 20 years. During this time he would have to walk around the yard where power tools were constantly used which were very noisy. During his time in the dockyard he moved to become a rigger which increased his exposure to loud noise. He was never provided with or asked to wear any ear protection.

It was years later that Jason realised he had a hearing problem and that his deafness was related to his employment. The Defendants did not bring any defence and Bond Pearce successfully secured £4,000 in damages to help Jason towards leading as normal life as possible.
