Cliff PooleSenior Associate

Heading up the industrial disease team and a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, Cliff has an impressive back catalogue of winning cases brought by shipyard workers for mesothelioma, a particularly aggressive cancer which is almost always caused by exposure to asbestos fibres. In one Merseyside case, he tracked down former Cammell Laird workers from the 1960s to win a settlement worth more than £150,000.

Experienced industrial disease solicitors, like Cliff will be fundamental in the coming years as the number of victims diagnosed with this asbestos related conditions is set to rise significantly. His meticulous legal skills and compassion helps him get the best for his clients. One client was diagnosed with mesothelioma over 40 years after his exposure, not an uncommon occurrence for this fatal disease.

The client was a heating engineer who was exposed to asbestos through the installation, repair and maintenance of asbestos coated pipe work. Another, an ex-railway worker, was exposed to asbestos as he worked uncoupling old railway carriages. The joints were insulated with asbestos and every time they were undone the worker would be showered in asbestos dust. He too has been diagnosed with mesothelioma.

Another form of industrial disease that can greatly affect a sufferer's life is industrial deafness. Cliff has dealt with hundreds of these cases representing a range of clients from those in the leather tanning industry who worked in excessively noisy workshops to pilots in the RAF who were deafened during the cold war flying V Bombers and Hercules.

When not at work, Cliff is a passionate golfer and proudly admits being a life long supporter of Leyton Orient FC.
