Polly AtkinsonPersonal Injury Advisor
Not all the pregnancies that midwife Polly Atkinson sees go to plan. "I recently dealt with a call where an emergency caesarean section went wrong when the surgeon severed an artery" says Polly a dual qualified nurse and midwife. "Mum lost over 25 pints of blood. She kept bleeding and bleeding in her abdomen. She went back to theatre and after two major procedures she finally had a life saving hysterectomy. What mum finds most upsetting is that due to these actions she can no longer have any more children as her and her husband had wanted."
As a member of the new enquiries team at Bond Pearce Polly deals with medical accidents and in particular the birth injury calls.
Polly qualified in the 1990's from the University of West of England as a Registered Nurse. She worked
within a large gynaecology and early pregnancy unit in Plymouth before qualifying with an honours degree in Midwifery from the University of Plymouth. Polly went on to work in a number of acute maternity units in the Southwest.
Green activist Polly is married and has a Great Dane. When not exploring Cornwall's beautiful beaches and Devon's rugged moors she is keeping abreast of new initiatives to tackle global warming.
