John BurgoynePersonal Injury Advisor

johnbWhen former dockyard worker turned police man John joined the Bond Pearce new enquiry team, little did he think he would be putting his many years of expertise from both of his careers to work helping those who had suffered road traffic accidents, industrial disease and criminal injuries. But this is exactly what has happened and the many clients who call us each day benefit from John's background and understanding of the issues.

Like 30 year old Sarah who was sexually abused by her uncle who would baby sit for her as a child. When another family member came forward to the police an investigation took place and it was found that this uncle had committed sexual acts against thirty males and females. The investigation, media attention and high profile court case at which the male was imprisoned for fourteen years brought back vivid memories of these attacks and the client was reliving the attacks and experiencing many problems in her life due to this. "This was a terribly sad case for Sarah and her family" says John. "And it was vital I was able to help and not make things worse with legal procedures. I was able to point Sarah in the right direction to get her some help, advice and support. The most satisfying thing is now seeing Sarah getting the help and support she needs so that she can start to rebuild her life."

johnbhobbyUpon leaving school John took out an apprenticeship as a Fitter and Turner with the MOD at Devonport Dockyard working on numerous surface craft and submarines. During his career with the MOD John was employed as an estimator, draughtsman, technical Supervisor and First Level Manager finally becoming a nuclear procedure coordinator docking and undocking nuclear submarines and providing mechanical facilities to the submarine nuclear refit complex.

In 1992 John left the Dockyard and joined the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary working as a response officer and Neighbourhood beat manager in the town and the sticks. Although the retirement age was 55 John managed to gain two extensions and worked until his 57th birthday when he left the Police.

Motorbike enthusiast John loves family life and is married with four children. Amongst his interests are swimming, cycling, walking, gardening and travelling but most of all is at his happiest with lazy days on local beaches with his family, friends and his three year old grandson.
