Accidents in the Home

Accidents in and around the home are common and our personal injury solicitors have experience in acting for those who have been injured as a result of an accident in the home or in the garden. The majority of our cases involve defective products, fires, falls and poisoning such as lead poisoning and carbon monoxide poisoning.

If you have or a loved one has suffered an injury at home due to the negligence of someone else contact one of our personal injury lawyers for specialist legal advice. You can either fill out our online enquiry form, request a call back or call us direct on 0800 915 4650.

Many of the accidents which occur in and around the home require medical treatment. In fact in the UK there are about 2.8 million accidents at home each year where the injured person visits an Accident and Emergency department for treatment. 1 million of those injured are children. In addition, there are a similar number of cases treated by GPs as well as millions of minor cases which are treated at home.

Accidents at home can of course be serious and it is perhaps surprising to learn that every year there are over 3,000 deaths in the UK due to home accidents - more than on the roads. Accidents occur for all sorts of reasons both in the home and the garden including:

  • Carbon monoxide poisoning - at home whether privately owned or rented accommodation
  • Poisoning
  • Defective products
  • Smoke alarms
  • Fires from faulty electrical goods
  • Fire works
  • Chemicals
  • DIY
  • Drowning
  • Falls
