Accidents Playing or Watching Sport
Serious injuries are often sustained by people participating in sporting activities. They can have a devastating effect and in some severe cases mean that the person will never be able to play that sport again. Even less severe sports injuries take their toll especially where a person cannot play their chosen sport whilst they are undergoing lengthy rehabilitation.
Participating in a physical sport carries with it a known level of risk for those involved. Sometimes injuries occur that are simply part of the game. Any person agreeing to play sports is considered to have consented to this natural level of risk of injury. However if an injury occurs that is not part of normal play or what should be expected then it may be possible to make a claim for compensation. Injuries occur for all manner of reasons whether due to the actions of another participant, a referee, umpire or official not fulfilling their duty to make all reasonable efforts to prevent unnecessary risks, poorly maintained facilities, faulty equipment or poor training and instruction.
The Bond Pearce personal injury team have experience in handling sport injury compensation claims for participants, referees, umpires and officials aswell as spectators who are injured whilst watching sport.

Children injured during sport
In 2002 it was recorded that in excess of 180,000 children were injured whilst participating in a sports or recreational activity. Thankfully most are minor injuries.
At Bond Pearce our personal injury team are used to handling injury claims for children and understand the concerns that parents have. We work with you to ensure that your child has access to early rehabilitation and for the more serious injuries we will obtain interim payments where possible to help with the purchasing of aids and equipment, any adaptations to the home and also for specialist treatments. Many of the accidents and injuries we deal with occur as a result of falls, being struck by an object, contact sports and collisions and overexertion during unorganised or informal sports activities. Our work includes accidents at school in the playground, at practice, during competition, at organised clubs and events.
